BIOGRAPHY
Realism is my natural path, although I am also exploring a looser approach to my technique.
Since retiring to Simon's Town some years ago, I began painting, mainly in oils, despite not having painted before.
However art, creative embroidery, quilting, patchwork and many other crafts have always been part of my life, bringing me great joy.
Living in Simon's Town, one is inspired daily by the ever-changing beauty of nature. This is what I enjoy painting - subjects that encourage positivity and bring a smile, rather than focusing on the darker side of life, which already permeates our daily experience.
Originally my painting was purely recreational, but after being invited to join an exhibition, I was thrilled when my first submission - a seascape featuring an oyster-catcher was sold within the first few minutes.
Joining the AAA Art Academy has allowed my art to grow and develop, and be further stimulated in expressing myself through painting. I have particularly enjoyed painting landscapes and seascapes of our local surroundings, as well as portraiture in oils.
